i wanted to tell you

Oli asioita viikonlopulta, jotka myös halusin kertoa.

Oli puut ja linnut, oli karuselli. Ja sitten tuli tämä valokin.

Miten minä murehdin noita puita. Osa niistä luulee tätä marraskuuta kevääksi, tekee silmuja. Ei se ole ihme, parvekkeella tarkenee hyvin juoda päiväkahvit, jalat tarkenevat tennareilla, mikä se semmoinen marraskuu on. Toivon, toivon niin kovasti, että kaikki ne kaksisataa siellä Durbanissakin murehtivat.

Nähtiin lintuparvi puussa, lapsi sanoi tykkäävänsä linnuista, juuri niistä nimenomaisista, kovasti. Mutta niiden yhtäkkinen lentoonpyrähdys ei surettanut yhtään, "äiti, ne tanssivat minulle!"

Ostin itselleni valmistujaislahjaksi kirjahyllyn, olisin halunnut laittaa kuvan siitä myös, mutta tänään vanha digipokkarini hajosi varmaankin lopullisesti, kenties näette juuri viimeiset kuvat jotka siitä koskaan tullaan ulos saamaan, vaikka toivon tietysti muuta, olisi ollut tuo valokin, olisi ollut enemmän sitä sen kameran sisällä vielä. Ei minua haittaa kuvata tuota kuulautta varalta filmillekin, mutta sieltä saattaa tulla vaikka mitä, yllätyksiä.

There were things about the weekend I wanted to tell you;

about the trees, the birds, the merry-go-round. And the light, that too, of course.

The trees are keeping me worried. Some of them seem to be thinking it's spring, they're budding with fresh new leaves, we've seen catkins, oh, how I worry about the trees, because of the trees. I hope the two hundred people gathered in Durban this week are the worrying kind, too. I hope they're tree-people, that they're the kind of people who take the time to have a look at the trees.

We saw a flock of birds sitting on branches, she said she liked them very much. She wasn't unhappy when they suddenly flew away, though: "Mommy, they're dancing for me!"

I bought a graduation present for myself, a bookshelf, I wanted to show it to you, too. But today is the day when I have to bid farewell to my old, faithful Canon PowerShot, and these might well be the last pictures to have come out of it. I hope it'll not be final, there were some shots of the fantastic light today, I wanted to show you more light, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Meanwhile I'm storing the light on film, too, just in case.
